This article explains how your organisation can utilise Rio's Single Sign-on (SSO) to log into the platform with an existing Microsoft account.
What is Single Sign-on (SSO) and why does Rio offer this as a login method?
Single Sign-On (SSO) has emerged as a powerful tool for enhancing security, productivity, and user experience across organisations. By streamlining the authentication process, SSO empowers businesses to protect their sensitive data, improve operational efficiency, and foster a more positive user experience. For many, SSO can improve log in experiences by enhancing security in the following ways:
-
Centralised Control: SSO consolidates user credentials into a single, secure repository, allowing organisations to enforce robust password policies and multi-factor authentication (MFA) across all applications. This centralised control minimises the risk of unauthorised access and data breaches.
-
Reduced Attack Surface: With SSO, users only need to remember one set of credentials, significantly reducing the likelihood of password reuse and phishing attacks. This centralised approach limits the potential entry points for malicious actors.
-
Proactive Monitoring: SSO solutions often include advanced monitoring tools that detect suspicious activity, enabling organisations to respond promptly to potential threats.
Rio's SSO solution, driven direct from the main Rio page, allows users to access the platform with:
-
Faster Logins: No more remembering multiple passwords.
-
Enhanced Security: Benefit from Microsoft's robust security measures and ties into your organisations security.
-
Seamless Experience: A smoother transition between your Microsoft account and our platform.
How do I use SSO to login to Rio?
If your organisation is interested in configuring SSO, Business Administrators will work with Rio consultants during the initial onboarding process to set this up.
If you're a Business Admin currently with a Rio account and would like to configure SSO for your business please reach out to your designated Rio consultant.
Once the SSO is configured by your organisation's IT department, logging into Rio is easy:
- From the homepage, please select "Sign in with Microsoft"
- The Microsoft login pop up will appear. Please select your work account and login.
- Once you sign in you will be granted access to the platform. Welcome to Rio!
Troubleshooting
1. If your organisation isn't enrolled with single sign-on, please speak to your Account Manager to enable this when logging into Rio.
2. All users logging into Rio for the first time via SSO will automatically be set as Rio Learn users. This means you will only be able to see Rio Learning content. Your Business Admin or Rio Champion can update your account settings once you have logged in to allow you appropriate access to the platform based on your role and responsibilities.
