How to review and resolve variances in your data

This article will explain how you can review and resolve any flagged transactions in Rio

Configuring Variances

Before Rio can begin identifying anomalies in your data, you'll need to configure a few thresholds in your account first. To learn more about configuring variances and anomalies in Rio, please see our support article here:

Filtering for data in your Variances table

You can filter for variances based on criteria available in your column headings.

Please note: not all columns are visible by default. You can select or deselect any columns you wish to see as well as alter the order of their appearance.

Selecting and deselecting columns

To add or remove columns visible to you in the variances table:

  1. Hover over any column header
  2. Select the three bars which appear next to the column name
  3. Select the far right grid icon
  4. Select and deselect columns you wish to see (any columns headers with the blue tick box will appear in your table)

Moving columns

To move columns in an order which makes reviewing variances easier for you, simply select the column header and drag to the desired location.

Please note: This will create a unique view for you and will not impact the column order and views for other users.

Accepting Variances and Anomalies

Accepting Data

To accept and clear a variance users can:

  1. Select a variance (or multiple variances which have the same root cause)
    1. If multiple variances are selected, your resolution will be applied to all selected items in bulk
  2. Select the blue"Accept" button at the top of the variance table
Important to note: flagged anomalies do not prevent your data from being uploaded into the Rio platform. All data which appears in the anomalies detected table is from your transactions tables.
Accepting a variance allows an audit record that a user has reviewed the high or low value and has resolved it. If you wish to edit or remove a flagged value, you will need to do so via Rio's roll-back functionality

Once you have selected "accept" Rio will ask you to provide any reasons which explain why the data may be higher or lower than historical trends:

  • Confirmation:
    • After selecting variance reasons and adding notes, users have two options:
      • Accept: Clears the selected variances and anomalies from view and appears under accepted variances.
      • No: Keeps the variances and anomalies visible.

Note: Once a variance is accepted, it is moved to "Yes" under the "Accepted" column. Users can view these at any time by filtering for "Yes". Variances which have not been reviewed and resolved  will be visible by default as "No".
